Who are we?
We are a group of Hawke’s Bay enthusiasts who own classic British and European cars. At present we have over 80 members. Our cars aren’t museum pieces. They are used for getting out and having fun with other like-minded people.
The Olde English Car Club was established in 1991 and later the name was changed to The British Car Club of Hawke's Bay in 1992. In the next few years we incorporated the Triumph Register and the HB Jaguar Drivers Club as well as individual members who had British cars.
In 2007 we changed the club to the Hawke’s Bay British and European Car Club Inc. to allow owners of European cars to join because we were aware of a number of car owners who didn’t have the numbers to form their own club. In 2007 The Daimler and Lanchester Owners Club became associated with the club.
What do we do?
We organise a monthly event for club members to enjoy. These regular events vary depending on who is organising them but recent events have included:-
Runs that start and end at a café or similar where participants are given a set of instructions to follow and questions to answer along the way
A timed run where contestants drive a set route then later drive the same route with the winner being the person who has had the least difference between their two times (consistency not speed wins the day)
A gymkhana where contestants have a series of driving challenges all in the safety of a mown paddock
Our biggest event of the year is our classic car display Wheels on Windsor that attracts classic cars from all over the country and is held at  Windsor Park in Hastings during March (see the link on this website)As well as these monthly events club members are invited to join trips away to other parts of the country often to attend other classic cars shows or to watch classic car racing.  We put out a flyer to members advertising the next monthly event and every two months publish a newsletter with contributions from members on topics of interest.
What don’t we do?
We don’t do any form of racing and we don’t condone anyone breaking the law. We also don’t pressure people to make their cars into concourse condition museum pieces.
